Past

In May we had a wonderful trip to the Black Country Museum. To many, especially the 600 odd young people there, it was a trip back into history but for your chairman it was a trip of nostalgia. I remember my mother cooking on an open range, washing clothes in a boiler in the kitchen and as a little boy turning the handle on the mangle. What I noticed particularly was the smell of burning coal. The best bit of the trip was the Fish & Chips cooked in the old traditional way, there's nothing like it. A visit to the gents outfitters next door, a trip on the canal boat and a visit to the coal mine made it a most enjoyable trip.
